December Book Giveaway

It's December, friends! We've been Adventing it up these last two weeks here at the Meyer home, but doesn't it seem more like the Christmas season once December arrives and the turkey has been put in the past?

So... my lovely publisher gave me the permission to give away three sets of my two latest books this one time. In case I'm confusing you, since I like to get carried away with words, it means that three different people will win a copy of both Sweet Song and The Hidden Garden!

Sheesh, I want to enter.

Just leave your name in the comments below, with a comment about anything you like, including where I can find a miniature labradoodle come the new year that won't cost me $2000!!!

And in case you don't know much about either of these two books--here's a short recap.

Sweet Song is a Christmas story! Really, it is. It's about a miracle that happened to Saint Romanos on the eve of the Nativity feast! This book should be included in your Christmas reading for your kids. Saint Romanos is an amazing role model of humility, faith and gentleness. I just love how dedicated he was to Christ, and then how he used his talents to bless the world a hundred times over with his music.

The Hidden Garden is an every-day, all-the-time story. It's a story that I literally need to read every single week, because it inspires me to be a much better human, and to constantly, always, open my heart to love--to love others and to love Christ! This is one of those stories that was written despite me--and is loved by both children and adults.

(I like my other books, too, but they aren't in the giveaway!)

Hoping to hear from you. Feel free to share this post with your friends, and don't forget to buy books this holiday season for the little people in your lives. They don't have to be my books, but having a shelf full of treasured stories is such a gift to a child.

I'll be picking three winners on Wednesday, December 10th.

The winners are: Rebekah Johnson, Christine Dr., and Rebeca!

Cheers!

I didn't realize the St. Romanos story was a Nativity story! How cool! And I can recommend a fabulous breeder for goldendoodles -- it's where we got our beloved dog (who will be ten years old this month!). http://www.thegoldendoodles.net/

We love your books, Jane! Our sweet dog, who passed away in September, was a Labradoodle. He was the BEST dog in the world, but definitely not miniature. He was 104 pounds. 104 pounds of cuddly sweetness. Good luck on the hunt!

jane g meyer replied:

Thanks Michelle! 104 pounds. Sorry about the loss--we still miss our sweet Zeke, and he's been gone for more than ten years now... Love to you

Thanks, Jane. We can't even get a new dog because Leo was so wonderful that no dog will ever measure up. Maybe in time. :)

Let your local vets know you want to rescue. My neighbor is a vet and she got all her pets thru abandoned pet hospital pets--including a mini labridoodle. Let local shelter know the same--they keep call lists so they can move animals out more quickly. :)

No idea on the dog - maybe craig's list or human society shelter? Your books would be great additions for our shelf! My husband has great ideas for Orthodox Children's books, but then we find a month later a similar book has already been published. What's your secret?

jane g meyer replied:
December 1, 2014 @ 6:36 PM

Keep your eye out for the dog. We need spies! Wow, the only secret I have is that I'm stubborn, and keep writing. For every book I've had published there are two or three that haven't made the cut. I try not to look for the holes in the market (except in my editing job) but instead write those stories that most appeal to me, that teach me something I need to learn. I wish you all the best!

Check out Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue. They are out of California and provide a wonderful alternative to the dog breeders. Currently Lunch Hour Read: "Ascetic Discources" by Abba Isaiah of Scetis. Current at Home Children's Read to our 18 month old: "Every time I do my Cross" and "Woman and the Wheat".

Thanks for the dog info, Michael Anthony! My current before bed read: Nearly Orthodox (almost done), and my morning read (besides the Psalms with Orthodox Mom): Words for Our Time. I'm debating what's next for the read aloud with John Ronan. I'm thinking The Chronicles of Prydain. Love 18 month olds!

I would love to win these books! I'm a nerd and listened to the Hidden Garden a few weeks ago on OCN. I had no idea that they had books on audio! Labradoodle! I can't believe that type of dog exists. Now I've got to see what they look like. Hmmm I have no idea where one would find them! I asked my friend who is a dog person and she said that since it's a mixed breed, she cannot find them thru the American Kennel Club. I've never owned a dog, so hopefully I'm making sense! Good luck and remember Christiana for the win! ;)
